Cellulosic ethanol. Bioethanol can be produced from ligno-cellulosic feedstocks through the biochemical conversion of the cellulose and hemicellulose components of biomass feedstocks into fermentable sugars. The sugars are then fermented to ethanol, following the same conversion steps as conventional biofuels. Cellulosic ethanol has the potential to perform better in terms of energy balance, GHG [greenhouse gas] emissions and land-use requirements than starch-based biofuels. 3, record 1, English, - cellulosic%20ethanol

Plusieurs procédés ont été développés pour produire l’éthanol cellulosique : l’hydrolyse acide, l’hydrolyse enzymatique et le procédé thermochimique (gazéification).
